Melanie Felvus
RECE, Casa Montessori Diploma
Executive Director
Melanie is the owner and Executive Director of Your Preschools Inc. She envisioned starting a high-quality program in Smithville in 2006, inspired by the Montessori method during her Early Childhood Education studies at Mohawk College. Melanie began her career working in daycare and preschool programs and then gained experience at two Montessori schools before opening her own. Her personal experience with the high cost of Montessori education for her daughter motivated her commitment to providing affordable, high-quality early learning programs for families.
She lives in Grassie with her husband, Mike, and daughters, Micaela and Madelyn. Outside of the schools, Melanie enjoys going for walks, spending time with family and friends, and supporting her community. She remains deeply committed to nurturing children, supporting her staff, and ensuring the Montessori philosophy remains at the heart of YPI.

Alia Wall
RECE, Casa Montessori Diploma
Director of Operations
Alia's connection to Your Preschools Inc. began in 2007 when her oldest daughter attended as a preschool student, and over the years all three of her daughters have been part of the YPI community. She later joined the YPI team as the French teacher and has since served in many roles throughout the organization, including support staff and classroom educator at the Smithville, Dunnville, and Vineland locations. Alia is a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE), holds a Casa Montessori diploma, and is pursuing her Bachelor of Early Childhood Leadership through Sheridan College.
As Director of Operations, Alia supports YPI's sites, staff, students, and families while helping guide the day-to-day operations of the organization. She is passionate about creating positive environments where both children and educators can thrive and about ensuring YPI's mission and values remain at the heart of its programs.
Alia lives in Fenwick with her husband, Josh, and their three daughters. Together, they are also foster parents and value opening their home to children who need care and support. Outside of work, Alia enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, travelling, and spending time with her family.

Conary Coyne
Honours Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm.)
Administrative Operations
Conary is part of the Administrative Operations team at Your Preschools Inc. and supports classroom sites across the organization. He brings a strong background in leadership, organization, and problem-solving, helping to ensure the day-to-day operations of each site run smoothly.
Conary graduated from McMaster University in 2021 with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce and a Minor in Economics. Prior to joining Your Preschools Inc., he spent over a decade working in NHL hockey data analytics, where he developed strengths in communication, teamwork, and managing high-responsibility projects.
Alongside his administrative role, Conary teaches one day per week at an outdoor forest school in Port Colborne. Inspired by his younger brother’s journey, he has developed a strong passion for early childhood education. In Fall 2026, he will begin pursuing a Bachelor of Education at Brock University while continuing his work with the organization.
Conary lives in Fonthill and, outside of work, is an avid hockey official across Ontario. He also serves as Referee-in-Chief for the Southern Tier Admirals AAA hockey association and enjoys spending time outdoors, including hunting, fishing, hiking, and kayaking.

Mandy Batth
Toddler Educator
Mandy is a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) and a recent graduate of the Early Childhood Education program. She is passionate about creating a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe and supported as they explore, create, and learn. Mandy enjoys encouraging children's natural curiosity through meaningful, hands-on experiences that build confidence and independence.
She values building positive relationships with children and families and looks forward to supporting each child as they develop a lifelong love of learning.
Outside of the classroom, Mandy enjoys reading, crafting, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her family.

Bre Merritt
Bachelor of Kinesiology
Toddler Educator
Breanna graduated from Brock University with a degree in Kinesiology. While she enjoyed her studies, she realized something was missing. After rediscovering her passion for working with young children, she knew she wanted to pursue a career where she could make a positive impact on children's lives each day.
Bre is passionate about creating a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to explore their interests. She believes every child learns in their own unique way and is committed to fostering confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning through meaningful early childhood experiences.
Outside of the classroom, Bre enjoys staying active, spending time outdoors, camping, and watching hockey. As a former Brock University lacrosse player, she values teamwork, perseverance, and building strong relationships both on and off the field. She also loves spending time with her family, friends, and her dog, Bolt.

Raelynn Merritt

Casa Educator
Raelynn joined the Your Preschools Inc. team after graduating from Mohawk College with her Early Childhood Education diploma in 2026. Before pursuing her ECE studies, she attended Sheridan College, where she studied Art Fundamentals, allowing her to combine her creativity with her passion for working with young children.
Raelynn's journey in early childhood education began while working with the Township of West Lincoln Summer Camp, where she discovered her love for helping children learn, grow, and build confidence. She is passionate about creating a warm, supportive environment where children feel encouraged to explore, develop new skills, and reach their full potential.

Fatima Imam
RECE, Autism & Behavioural Science Certificate
Casa Educator
Fatima holds an Early Childhood Education diploma from St. Lawrence College, a Certificate in Autism and Behavioural Sciences, and a Master’s in Computer Science. After her children started school, she switched her career from Computer Science to Early Childhood Education, following her passion for supporting young learners. She has experience working with children aged two to five and is dedicated to creating safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environments.
Fatima is dedicated to creating safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning spaces and is known for her calm presence, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to support children with diverse needs.
She lives in Beamsville with her husband and three children. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring nature, traveling, cooking, and reading.

Amelia Kroeker
Casa Educator/Program Floater
Amelia has many years of experience working with children, beginning as a nanny at the age of 15 and spending the past five years in licensed child care. She is currently completing her Early Childhood Education studies through Algonquin College and is excited to begin her journey in Montessori education.
Amelia is passionate about helping children learn, grow, and reach new milestones. She strives to create a nurturing and encouraging environment where children feel safe and supported, while reflecting the love of Jesus through patience, compassion, and kindness.
Outside of the classroom, Amelia enjoys spending time outdoors and hiking with her energetic Border Collie–Shepherd puppy. She looks forward to continuing to grow as an educator and deepen her understanding of the Montessori philosophy.

Leslie Brink

Program Floater
Leslie holds a degree in Social Work from Redeemer University and has worked with children in a variety of settings, including group homes, schools, churches, and homes. She has been part of the YPI team since March 2023 and brings her experience and compassion to every classroom she supports.
She is married to Mike and they have four children. Outside of work, Leslie enjoys spending time with her family and contributing to the growth and development of children in her care.

Erica graduated from the University of Guelph-Humber in 2022 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Early Childhood Studies and an Early Childhood Education diploma. Throughout her career, she has worked with children in a variety of settings, including hospitals, schools, child care programs, and churches. These experiences have strengthened her passion for supporting children's individual growth and development.
Erica is dedicated to creating a warm, inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued, and encouraged to explore, learn, and thrive. She values building positive relationships with children and families while helping foster confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Jamie Switzer
Site Supervisor
Jamie first joined our preschool community in 2017 as a parent and soon after began supporting classrooms by covering lunch breaks and supplying at our Smithville location. She later gained additional experience at our Dunnville site, steadily taking on more hours and in-class responsibilities. When our Grassie location opened in 2022, Jamie became a full-time team member. After three years there, she is returning to Dunnville as she pursues new opportunities within our program. Jamie is also working toward her Early Childhood Education diploma and looks forward to graduating this April.
She lives with her husband and their three children on a small hobby farm where they raise cattle and chickens. Outside of work, Jamie enjoys being active in the community, spending time outdoors, and supporting her children in their extracurricular activities.

Briar Kikkert
Toddler Montessori Diploma
Assistant Supervisor - Toddler Educator, Extended Care (pm)
Briar is entering her third year as a member of the YPI team, although her connection with YPI began several years earlier when she completed her Grade 11 co-op with us. Since then, she has gained extensive experience working with young children through preschool programs, summer camps, babysitting, and nannying.
Briar has completed her Infant/Toddler Montessori diploma and enjoys bringing the Montessori philosophy into her work with our youngest learners. She values creating a warm, organized environment where toddlers feel safe and supported as they build independence, explore, and learn.
Outside of the classroom, Briar is recently married and enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. She also enjoys running, playing soccer, and—true to those who know her well—finding something to clean or organize!

Sarah McKeen
HBA Communications & Sociology
Toddler Educator, Extended Care (am)
Sarah holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and Sociology from the University of Toronto. With many years of experience working with children in schools, churches, and childcare settings, she brings both compassion and dedication to her work. Sarah has an ongoing passion for Montessori education and is excited to be part of Your Preschools Inc.
She lives on a hobby farm in Wainfleet with her husband, their two daughters, and their Opa. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys traveling and exploring new places with her family, baking, reading, and soaking in the sounds of her musically gifted family as they play guitar, piano, cello, and sing songs of worship.

Kayla Dressel

Toddler Educator, Extended Care (am & pm)
Kayla graduated from Niagara College in 2012 with her Early Childhood Education diploma. She has worked in the childcare field for over 13 years, including operating her own home childcare centre for more than five years. Since then, she has gained experience in licensed childcare programs, working with children from infancy through school age. Kayla is eager to expand her knowledge of Montessori education and looks forward to becoming an active part of the Your Preschools Inc. community.
She lives in Port Colborne with her husband, whom she married in 2018, and their two children. Outside of work, Kayla enjoys playing volleyball, spending time up north at her family cottage, and four-wheeling with her family. She especially loves being outdoors and creating lasting memories with those closest to her.

Avaiah Wielink
Casa One Educator, Extended Care (am & pm)
Avaiah is entering her second year with YPI. She discovered her passion for working with children as a gymnastics coach, where she spent three years leading camps and working with children at both recreational and competitive levels. This experience sparked her interest in early learning and inspired her to pursue a career in child care. Avaiah brings energy, creativity, and a love of learning into the classroom and is currently working toward her Casa Montessori diploma.
Avaiah enjoys beginning her day with an early morning workout and quiet time reading her Bible with a coffee in hand. She was recently married and enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. In her free time, she loves exploring nature on long walks and finding new ways to stay active.

Paige Gritter

Casa One Educator
Paige is an Early Childhood Education graduate with over a year of hands-on experience working with young children. She is passionate about supporting children during their foundational early years and creating warm, nurturing environments where they feel safe, valued, and encouraged to learn and grow.
Paige has developed a particular interest in the Montessori method and appreciates its focus on supporting each child's natural development, independence, and curiosity. She is excited to continue deepening her understanding of Montessori principles and hopes to pursue a formal Montessori diploma in the future.
Outside of the classroom, Paige lives in Port Colborne with her husband, Trevor. They enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, and travelling out west to explore the mountains. In her free time, Paige enjoys daily devotions, baking, thrifting, and working on embroidery projects.
Paige is excited to be part of the YPI team and looks forward to building meaningful relationships with children and families while supporting each child's unique learning and development.

Trish Vandervelde
RECE
Casa Two Educator, Extended Care (am & pm)
Trish graduated as a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in 2018 and brings many years of experience in child care to the YPI team. She is passionate about working with children and enjoys combining her experience in early childhood education with the Montessori approach to create a warm, engaging environment where children can learn, explore, and grow.
Trish lives in Dunnville with her mother and two dogs. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys playing baseball and volleyball, swimming, travelling, and taking her dogs for walks. Family is also an important part of Trish's life—she comes from a large extended family and is a proud aunt to 15 and great-aunt to nearly 30!

Avery Bartels

Casa Two Educator, Extended Care (am & pm)
Avery joined the Your Preschools Inc. team after completing her Early Childhood Education placement at our Grassie location. Following her placement, she became part of the YPI family in April 2026 and now serves as a full-time educator at our Dunnville site. Avery graduated from Mohawk College with her Early Childhood Education diploma in 2026.
Through her placements in both toddler and preschool classrooms, Avery developed a passion for creating nurturing, engaging learning environments where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to grow. She is dedicated to building meaningful relationships with each child and supporting their development through play-based, child-centred learning.
Outside of the classroom, Avery enjoys spending time in nature, especially going for long walks, playing the piano, and making memories with family and friends. She also loves thrift shopping and relaxing with a good cup of tea.

Kelsey Visser

Kelsey is a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) with many years of experience working with children across a variety of age groups, from infants through to supervising school-age programs. She is passionate about creating a warm, nurturing, and engaging environment where every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged to learn and grow at their own pace.
Kelsey believes in fostering positive relationships with children and families while creating meaningful learning experiences that build confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
Outside of the classroom, Kelsey enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing sports, and making the most of the summer months on the water.

Jamie Struyk

Jamie brings more than 20 years of experience supporting children with diverse learning, behavioural, and developmental needs. She holds an Educational Assistant diploma and has worked with both the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and the Niagara Catholic District School Board, where she supported students with a wide range of exceptionalities.
As part of YPI’s support team, Jamie works alongside educators, children, and families to help create inclusive, responsive learning environments where every child can thrive. Drawing on both her extensive professional experience and her collaborative approach, she provides guidance, practical strategies, and individualized support to help educators meet the unique needs of each child. Jamie is passionate about empowering educators, partnering with families, and fostering a culture of inclusion, compassion, and belonging throughout the Dunnville site.
Outside of work, Jamie enjoys spending time with her husband and their four children. She loves supporting her children in their extracurricular activities and values every opportunity to make memories together as a family.

Emma vanGrieken

Program Assistant
Emma is new to the YPI team as of September 2026. With a passion for the little moments that make the biggest difference, she is dedicated to taking the time to get to know each child and helping them feel supported as they learn and grow.
Emma holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, where she studied English and Psychology. Her educational background has helped shape her appreciation for the important role imagination, creativity, and play have in children's learning and development. She looks forward to bringing this perspective into the classroom while continuing to grow in her understanding of early childhood and Montessori education.

Julie Cox
Program Assistant
Julie is entering her second year with YPI and brings many years of experience working with children. Earlier in her career, she spent over 10 years as a lifeguard and swimming instructor and continues to enjoy opportunities to support children and families in her community. Creative and organized, Julie enjoys bringing these strengths into the classroom and creating an environment where children feel welcomed and supported.
Julie is actively involved in her church, where she volunteers in the nursery and other areas, and serves as Group Commissioner for the 2nd Dunnville Scouting Group.
Outside of the classroom, Julie has been married for over 15 years and is a busy mom to two young boys. She enjoys spending time with her family and being involved in her church and community.

Rebecca Wismer
Program Assistant
Rebecca began working in child care in 2019 while pursuing her Early Childhood Education studies through Mohawk College. She has experience working with a variety of age groups, beginning with toddlers before moving into intermediate and senior programs. After several years in play-based child care, Rebecca transitioned into Montessori education and continues to grow in her knowledge and experience.
As a Program Assistant, Rebecca works throughout the classrooms, providing an extra set of hands wherever needed and building relationships with children and staff across the program. She has also completed an Executive Office Administration certificate, bringing strong organizational skills to her role.
Outside of the classroom, Rebecca is a mom and stepmom to three children. She enjoys camping, reading, and spending time with her family.

Tonia tenBrinke
Program Floater (pm Extended Care)
Tonia holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph, where she studied Psychology and Sociology/Anthropology with a focus on childhood development and exceptional children. She brings many years of experience working with children and families, including teaching Kindergarten at a private Christian school and working as a Childcare Coordinator, where she planned and facilitated programming for young children.
Tonia is passionate about creating a welcoming, nurturing environment where children feel safe to learn, grow, build friendships, and develop confidence. Her education and experience have given her a strong appreciation for recognizing each child as an individual and supporting their unique strengths and needs.
Outside of the classroom, Tonia enjoys reading a good book, spending time with her family, and taking long walks and hikes while enjoying God's beautiful creation.

Micaela Wheeler
Toddler & Casa Montessori Diplomas
Acting Supervisor - Casa Two Educator, Extended Care (am & pm)
Micaela (“Miss Mic”) has a special connection to YPI, having attended our Smithville school as a child when it first opened in 2006. Years later, she returned to YPI as an educator and has worked at both our Dunnville and Smithville locations. Micaela holds both Infant/Toddler and Casa Montessori diplomas and is currently pursuing her Early Childhood Education diploma. Before beginning her career in early childhood education, she also earned a Veterinary Technician diploma.
Micaela enjoys creating a warm and engaging Montessori environment where children are encouraged to build independence, confidence, and a love of learning. Her own history with YPI gives her a unique appreciation for being part of the experiences and relationships that shape children's early years.
Outside of the classroom, Micaela lives in Smithville with her husband and enjoys playing softball and spending time with family and friends.

Melissa Karrandjas
Casa Montessori Diploma
Casa One Educator
Melissa has always had a passion for working with young children. She began tutoring elementary school students in high school and worked winters at a local ski resort daycare. She later worked as a supply Educational Assistant for the Peel board and as a Personal Support Worker for children with special needs. After taking time off to focus on her family, Melissa has returned to the classroom, has completed her Casa Montessori Diploma and is now pursuing her diploma in Early Childhood Education.
Melissa is married and a mother to one daughter and three sons. Outside of school, she enjoys cheering her children on at hockey, lacrosse, and cheerleading events, as well as running and staying active.

Michaela DiCarlo
RECE
Casa One Educator, Extended Care
After completing a successful placement with Your Preschools Inc., Michaela joins our team as a full-time educator. She graduated from Mohawk College with an Early Childhood Education diploma, holds an Advanced Diploma in 3D Animation from Mohawk College, earned a DELF B2 French Bilingualism Certificate, and is currently pursuing her Montessori Casa diploma.
Through her placements with children from infancy through kindergarten, Michaela developed a passion for creating engaging, child-centred learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, and confidence. She enjoys building meaningful relationships with children and supporting their growth in a nurturing, inclusive environment inspired by Montessori principles.
Outside of the classroom, Michaela enjoys expressing her creativity through painting and spending time outdoors exploring nature on hiking trails.

Leah Bohlken
Casa Two Educator, Extended Care (am & pm)
Leah joined Your Preschools Inc. in 2024 and assisted the Smithville classes with lunch coverage, preparing healthy snacks, and maintaining a welcoming environment. She recently has joined the Casa Two classroom as an educator and is pursuing her diploma in Early Childhood Education. Before joining YPI, she spent 13 years as a school bus driver, a stay-at-home mom, and ran her family poultry farm. These experiences taught her flexibility, organization, and how to pitch in wherever needed. Leah brings a positive attitude and a team-focused approach to every situation.
She lives locally with her family and enjoys contributing to the preschool community while sharing her energy and enthusiasm with children and colleagues alike.

Julie Nault

Julie graduated from Brock University with a BA in Child Health, originally planning to pursue a career in healthcare before discovering that her true passion was working with children. After three years of experience in child care, she began working toward her Early Childhood Education diploma through Algonquin College.
Julie enjoys bringing her active lifestyle into the classroom, especially during outdoor play. Outside of work, she lives with her daughter and cat and enjoys running, rollerblading, and crocheting blankets to donate to local hospitals. She also volunteers with No Bare Bums Niagara and enjoys giving back to her community.

Meagan Clark
RECE, Casa Montessori Diploma
Site Supervisor - Educator
Maegan first experienced the benefits of early childhood education when her son began attending preschool in 2014, followed by her daughter in 2017. She witnessed firsthand the care and dedication of the staff, which inspired her to pursue a career in the field. Maegan obtained her Early Childhood Education diploma through Mohawk College and completed her Casa Montessori diploma. She has also worked as a lunchtime supervisor, driven a school bus, and volunteered in classrooms, bringing a wealth of experience to her role as site supervisor.
She lives on a hobby farm with her husband and their four children, where they care for horses and enjoy farm life. Outside of work, Maegan spends her time on the farm and supporting her children in activities like basketball, gymnastics, and baseball.

Abby Hickton
Educator
Abby has been a valued member of our preschool community since October 2025, but her passion for working with young children began long before then. She has dedicated many years to serving in her church's preschool and children's ministry programs and has also spent the past five summers working at her church's summer camp.
This September, Abby is excited to begin working toward her Early Childhood Education diploma while continuing to work full-time at our St. Ann's location. She is passionate about creating a warm, welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to learn through play and exploration.

Charlene Barry
RECE
Support Staff
Charlene holds a diploma in Early Childhood Education from Mohawk College, as well as an Early Childhood Education Resource Certificate and an Autism and Behaviour Science Certificate. She brings more than 34 years of experience to the classroom, having worked in a variety of settings including the Niagara District School Board and innovative intergenerational programs that connected preschool children with seniors. These experiences have shaped her ability to create warm, inclusive spaces where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn.
Charlene is passionate about helping children discover their unique strengths and encouraging them to grow with confidence and curiosity.
She lives in Smithville with her daughter, cat, and dog. Outside of work, Charlene enjoys spending time with family and friends and spending summers at her trailer.

Samantha Berry

Program Floater
Samantha graduated from Neumann University in the United States with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She spent two years working as a Registered Behavioral Health Technician, supporting children on the autism spectrum and gaining valuable experience helping children with their individual development and needs.
Samantha loves watching children learn, grow, and make progress. She considers it a privilege to provide the love, safety, and support children need to build confidence and develop into who God created them to be. She is excited to bring her experience and passion for working with children to the YPI community.

Colleen Minor
RECE, ERSN, Casa & Toddler Montessori Diploma
Site Supervisor
Colleen is a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) and Niagara Scholar who holds a diploma in Educational Resources and Special Needs (ERSN), as well as both Casa and Infant/Toddler Montessori credentials. Throughout her time with YPI, Colleen has served in a variety of roles and locations, beginning as support staff at Smithville Christian Preschool before moving into leadership and classroom roles at Vineland, Grassie, and Spring Creek.
As Site Supervisor at Spring Creek Christian Preschool, Colleen brings extensive experience, a strong understanding of children's individual needs, and a passion for supporting both children and educators. She is committed to creating a safe and engaging environment that fosters curiosity, independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Colleen lives in Smithville with her husband, a local farmer, and their two children. Outside of work, she enjoys cheering on her son's hockey team, travelling with her family, and exploring new places and adventures together.

Lisa Leenstra

Toddler Educator
Lisa first discovered the Montessori method when she enrolled a foster child at Vineland Christian Preschool and was inspired by the calm, caring environment. Her connection with YPI eventually led her to join the team as an educator. Lisa brings over 20 years of experience homeschooling her own children, as well as experience as a nanny and foster parent. She has also completed her Infant/Toddler Montessori diploma, further developing her knowledge and passion for the Montessori approach.
Lisa lives in Vineland with her husband and youngest son. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time outdoors, being with family and friends, and cherishing time with her five grown children and six grandchildren.

Coralie te Brake

Toddler Educator, Extended Care (am & pm)
Coralie recently completed her Early Childhood Education Diploma at Niagara College and is passionate about supporting children's growth and development during their early years. She brings experience working with children through summer camps, college placements, childcare centres, and babysitting, and enjoys creating engaging, nurturing learning environments where every child feels supported and encouraged to thrive.
Coralie is excited to be part of the YPI team, where she looks forward to helping children learn and grow while sharing Christ's love through kindness, compassion, and meaningful relationships.
Outside of the classroom, Coralie recently married her husband and they live together in Fenwick. In her free time, she enjoys baking, embroidery, gardening, and spending time with her husband and family.

Kelly Miller

Pre-Casa Educator, Extended Care (am & pm)
Kelly holds an Early Childhood Education diploma from Niagara College and brings several years of experience working in early learning and childcare settings. She has supported children in toddler programs and has experience in supervisory roles, where she developed strong leadership, organization, and collaboration skills. Kelly is passionate about creating supportive, nurturing environments that help children feel safe, confident, and ready to learn, and she is excited to be part of the Your Preschools Inc. team.
Kelly lives in St. Catharines with her mom and two cats. Outside of work, she enjoys writing, painting, reading, card making, playing music on her ukulele, gaming, and going on nature walks. She also values spending time with her family and friends.

Ashleigh Rutledge

Ashleigh holds an Early Childhood Education diploma from Niagara College and has experience working in both school-age and preschool programs. She is passionate about early childhood education and enjoys creating welcoming, engaging learning environments where children feel supported, valued, and inspired to learn. Ashleigh looks forward to learning and growing alongside the children in the Montessori classroom while helping them build confidence and independence.
Ashleigh lives in St. Catharines and, outside of the classroom, enjoys reading, gardening, baking, and exploring nature whenever she can.

Johanna Owen

Assistant Supervisor - Casa Educator, Extended Care (am)
Johanna is a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) with a diploma from Mohawk College and more than 25 years of experience working with children of all ages in a variety of child care settings. Her experience includes operating a successful home child care program, where she cared for children from infancy through school age. Johanna has also completed her Montessori certification and brings her extensive experience and knowledge to her role as Assistant Site Supervisor at Spring Creek Christian Preschool.
Johanna is passionate about creating a warm and supportive environment where children feel safe to explore, build independence, and develop a love of learning.
She lives in Grimsby with her husband, Grant, and their two children. Outside of the classroom, Johanna enjoys cheering on her favourite football team, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Vanessa Porter
Child and Youth Care Diploma
Casa Educator
Vanessa brings a diverse background in supporting children and families through a variety of educational and community settings. She graduated from Sheridan College with a diploma in Child and Youth Care and has specialized experience working with children and adults with complex special needs and behaviours. Throughout her career, Vanessa has worked as an Educational Assistant in a JK/SK classroom, a Personal Support Worker, and a Community Support Worker, providing compassionate, individualized support to help children thrive. She is currently furthering her education by completing her Montessori Casa training.
Vanessa is passionate about creating inclusive, nurturing environments where every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. She enjoys building strong relationships with children and families while helping each child grow with confidence and independence.
Outside of work, Vanessa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, creating art, baking, and taking her dog for walks along the canal path.

Kelly joined YPI in January 2026 and is excited to continue her Montessori journey within the school community. She has been a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) since 2013 and graduated from the Early Childhood Education program at Mohawk College in April 2013.
Kelly brings an energetic, compassionate, and flexible approach to the classroom. She is passionate about supporting children as they develop new skills and confidence, and she enjoys incorporating meaningful life skills into everyday learning experiences.
Kelly is also a mom and strives to give her best both at school and at home. She is grateful to be part of the YPI community and looks forward to building positive relationships with the children and families.

Mariah-Lynn Schwager
Bachelor of Child Health, OTA/PTA diploma
Support Staff
Mariah-Lynn holds a Bachelor of Child Health degree from Brock University and an Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant (OTA & PTA) diploma from Niagara College. During her studies, she completed a placement at Niagara Children's Centre, where her passion for working with children and supporting their learning and development continued to grow. She is excited to be joining the YPI team this year and looks forward to building meaningful relationships with children and their families.
Mariah-Lynn has called the Niagara Region home for the past seven years and lives with her husband and daughter. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, exploring new places with her daughter, and, of course, enjoying a good cup of coffee.

Tayler Boutilier
Program Assistant
Tayler has always had a passion for working with young children and enjoys watching them learn and grow through each stage of development. She has gained experience caring for children of all ages through volunteering at her church, growing up as one of nine siblings, and being part of a foster family. Tayler is also continuing her Montessori education and enjoys growing in her knowledge of the Montessori approach.
As a Program Assistant at Spring Creek Christian Preschool, Tayler enjoys supporting children and educators throughout the classrooms and building relationships across the program.
Outside of the classroom, Tayler enjoys spending time with her family, swimming, being outdoors, and staying active.

Emma recently graduated from the Early Childhood Education program at Niagara College and is excited to be a member of the YPI team. She has always had a passion for working with young children and is committed to helping each child reach their full potential while fostering a love of learning and building self-confidence. Emma has gained valuable experience working at a variety of summer camps and through educational placements in kindergarten classrooms, Montessori preschools, and licensed childcare settings.
Emma lives in Fonthill with her family and her dachshund, Scout. She is known for being caring, creative, patient, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Outside of the classroom, Emma enjoys spending time with family and friends, camping, practicing yoga, travelling, painting, walking her dog, and listening to music.

Tara joined YPI at the beginning of 2026 and holds a diploma in Recreation Therapy from Niagara College. Her background in recreation therapy thoughtfully informs her work in the classroom, where she brings creativity, encouragement, and genuine care into her interactions with children each day.
Tara has always had a heart for working with children and feels grateful to be part of a Christian Montessori preschool community. She is excited to continue learning and growing in the Montessori approach and to support children as they develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.
Tara lives in St. Catharines with her husband, Miles. Outside of school, she enjoys playing hockey, staying active through a variety of sports and outdoor activities, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Tamara holds an Early Childhood Education diploma from Niagara College and has extensive experience working with children of all ages in childcare centers and as an RECE in Kindergarten classrooms for the District School Board of Niagara. She also has experience supporting children with exceptional needs and has spent over six years planning and leading the Kindergarten program for Bible Day Camp at her church. Tamara is passionate about providing children with support, encouragement, and learning opportunities to foster their growth and development, and she is excited to be part of the Your Preschools Inc. team.
She lives in Beamsville with her husband and two sons. Outside of work, Tamara enjoys spending time with family and friends and going for walks.

Educator
Crystal first became familiar with Your Preschools Inc. as a parent and saw firsthand the benefits of the Montessori approach. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Recreation and Leisure and has extensive experience working with children through her church’s children’s ministry, volunteering at her children’s school, and serving as a noon hour supervisor for the DSBN. Crystal is enthusiastic about applying what she has learned and continuing to grow alongside the children and staff at YPI.
She lives in Smithville with her husband and two sons. Outside of work, Crystal enjoys cheering on her children at hockey and soccer games, going for walks, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Educator
Kelsie is entering her third year at Your Preschools Inc. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Psychology and Youth & Child Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University. Before joining YPI, Kelsie taught Grade 1 at an elementary school, where she discovered her passion for supporting children's learning and development. She appreciates the Montessori approach and its emphasis on hands-on exploration, independence, and meaningful learning experiences. Kelsie is also looking forward to pursuing her Early Childhood Education diploma in the future.

Outside of the classroom, Kelsie lives with her husband and daughter and is currently in the process of moving. In her free time, she enjoys a good cup of coffee, reading, playing soccer and basketball, and spending time with friends and family.

Amy brings a background in hospitality and business management, along with more than 21 years of experience owning and operating her family business. Through this experience, she has developed strong skills in leadership, organization, and communication that she is excited to bring to the YPI community.
Amy has been involved in children's ministry for the past 13 years and her church's summer camp program for the past eight. She has a heart for serving others and enjoys creating fun, safe, and supportive environments where children feel welcomed and valued. Amy is also actively involved in her community and serves on the boards of two not-for-profit organizations.
Outside of YPI, Amy is married and a proud mom of three active children. Much of her time is spent cheering them on in their sports and activities. She is excited for this new chapter and looks forward to building relationships with the children, families, and staff at YPI.

Full-Time Supply Educator
Katie is a proud YPI alumna, having attended our very first summer program in 2006. Since then, she has earned diplomas in Recreation Therapy and General Arts and Science and has built a strong foundation in early childhood education.
Katie is passionate about creating meaningful early learning experiences inspired by Montessori philosophy. She brings several years of experience supporting children’s learning and development in licensed child care settings, working with children from infancy through school age. Katie is committed to fostering a positive and nurturing classroom environment where children feel empowered, confident, and inspired to learn.
Outside of the classroom, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, exploring nature, and staying active through sports.

Colleen Puhl
Toddler & Casa Montessori Diplomas
Full-Time Supply Educator
Colleen joined the YPI community this summer, working with children in our summer camp program. She holds a Personal Support Worker diploma and brings 24 years of experience in nursing, where she developed a deep appreciation for seeing and supporting each person as an individual.
In 2020, Colleen decided to pursue her passion for working with children and has since spent six years working as an Educational Assistant. She has also completed her Toddler and Casa Montessori certificates through MACTE. Caring for others comes naturally to Colleen, and she brings a calm, nurturing approach to supporting each child's individual needs. She is grateful for the opportunity to be part of YPI's Christian preschool community.
Outside of the classroom, Colleen lives in Grimsby with her family and has three adult sons. She values maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle and believes that caring for ourselves allows us to continue caring for and giving to others.

Avery is a 2026 graduate of Western University, where she earned a degree in Health Sciences. Her connection to YPI began in 2007 as a preschool student, making her return to the YPI community as an educator a special full-circle experience.
Avery is passionate about creating a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to explore their interests. She values building positive relationships with children and families and enjoys supporting children as they develop confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
Outside of the classroom, Avery enjoys reading, kayaking, baking and cooking, taking walks with her dog, Maizy, and spending time with family.
